One Wednesday night I shared a short message about salvation on the program, “NIGHT OF FAVORITES.” After I shared some verses about salvation and explained how it can give peace in a person’s heart, I received five texts on my phone from people who said they had accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. One lady said she had been struggling for many years, looking for peace, hoping to make her life easier. She said that there was no such thing or person that could give her peace but then she heard the message about salvation on our radio station. After receiving Christ she experienced the peace that can only be found in Jesus. She said, “I no longer have fear of death for I am rest assured that someday when I die I will open my eyes and see Heaven which God has prepared for me.” I have no idea who this lady is, as she wanted to remain anonymous, but I know someday because of The Anchor, I will see her in Heaven.
Cora, is 47 years old, from the Island of Guimaras. She loves her husband and three children. Her goal in life was always to take care of her family, which she considered was her greatest blessing. One day Cora discovered she had breast cancer. One Saturday night she couldn’t sleep so she turned on our radio and listen to some music. She ran across “The Anchor” and heard a beautiful Christian song, “Is Anything Too Hard for the Lord?” It seemed the message was for her. After the song she heard me speaking on our program MUSIC FOR THE HEART. I read Proverbs 3:5-7 and spoke on “How to Handle Burdens that Handle Us.” I spoke of praying, bringing your burdens to Jesus, and having faith. Cora received Jesus Christ as her Savior. The following week she was scheduled for surgery and went in for some tests. The doctor told her she didn’t have cancer after all! She cried with joy! Last December 2013, Cora visited IBC and I got to meet her. She told me how thankful she was to hear the message that night and now she listens to The Anchor faithfully.
Rose, who lives in Lapaz, is 41 years old. She and her husband have four sons. Her husband has been ill for many years. She told me she has been listening to The Anchor since December 2013, which her neighbor had told her about. She said she ignored the preaching but she liked to listen to the music. One day in April, she was listening to the radio. That day her husband had really been suffering with his illness when the announcer said he was going to speak on the subject, “The Sudden Death.” She started to listen and tears began to roll down her face. She didn’t want to lose her husband. After the message she received Jesus Christ as her Savior. She sent us a text, thanking us for our program.
On Monday afternoon, January 26, one of our high school members brought her classmates from Iloilo City National High School. She asked if they could have a tour of the radio station. Afterwards, I was privileged to share the Gospel with them. Seven of them accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior!
Joseph faithfully listens to The Anchor. He loved hearing the Christian songs. One night he was listening to “NIGHT OF REQUESTS.” During a pause between songs, Pastor Sito Mahinay gave a short message about salvation. Joseph got saved that night. We happened to have a prize that night and Joseph won the prize! He came to the station to receive the prize and told us he was so happy to find out about our station and receive Christ as his Savior!
Jean and her husband both drive a motorized tricycle (used like a taxi) to support their family. She is a member of the 4 P’s. One day while I was teaching the 4 P’s session, I promoted our radio station. Jean told me that later that night she listened to The Anchor for the first time. She was listening to “NIGHT OF FAVORITES” and in the middle of the program, I gave a short message about salvation and gave an invitation. I announced that if anyone made a decision to accept Jesus as their Savior, they could text us and tell us they got saved. A few minutes later, Jean sent a text, saying she got saved and she thanked us for sharing the salvation message.
Amy, from the nearby island of Guimaras, was listening to our radio one night. She had a heavy heart due to some family problems and this was the first time she tuned in to our station. The program she was listening to was “NIGHT OF FAVORITES.” In the middle of the program I gave a short salvation message and an invitation to receive Christ as Savior. I asked if anyone had asked Jesus into their hearts. If so, would they please text us and tell us. That’s when Amy sent us a text and thanked us for leading her to Christ. Now she listens all the time and plans to visit our station soon.
There was a man who was saved years ago in our church when he was young. However, he hung around with unsaved friends and didn’t grow in his Christian life. Later he was involved with the Mormon church. After a while he left the Mormons, as he said some of their beliefs and doctrines confused his mind. Years passed and he got married and had two children, and worked as a security guard, but he didn’t have peace in his life. One day he came across our radio station and was happy to hear Christian songs and especially liked the program “LIVE BY FAITH.” He began listening to our station everyday, texting his favorite song requests. He and his family have started coming to our church services. He has also encouraged his friends to visit IBC and also to listen to “The Anchor.”
